Brad Pitt donates 5 Million Dollars to build 150 Eco-Homes for New Orleans
Actor/activist Brad Pitt and the award winning German Architect Firm GRAFT have taken on the daunting task of rebuilding New Orleans after its devastation by hurricane Katrina in August of 2005. In a first step, local communities, national and international architect firms, various companies and volunteers began with the construction of 150 eco-friendly homes in the Lower 9th Ward, the area hardest hit by the storm and spanning 14 blocks. The project is a ray of hope for the many families who lost everything during the worst natural disaster in American history and have since been misplaced.

Biggest ever "CLIMATE CHANGE CONFERENCE" to begin in Bali
Delegates and scientists from around the world opened the biggest-ever climate change conference Monday, urging rapid progress in building a new international pact by 2009 to combat global warming or risk economic and environmental disaster. Some 10,000 conferees, activists and journalists from nearly 190 countries gathered on the resort island of Bali for two weeks of U.N.-led talks that follow a series of scientific reports this year concluding that the world has the technology to slow global warming, but must act immediately. The Bali meeting will be the first major climate change conference since former Vice President Al Gore, due to arrive next week, and a U.N. scientific council won the Nobel Peace Prize in October for their environmental work, fueling the growing sense of urgency as ice-caps melt, oceans rise and extreme weather increases.
